Adobe Target and Adobe Journey Optimizer Coexistence - III

17 May 2026 » MSA , Platform

A few days ago I reviewed the two blog posts I wrote on Adobe Target and Adobe Journey Optimizer Coexistence (part one and part two). While I wrote them, I did my best to make them understandable, but I have realized that I made them difficult to follow. My premise has always been not to delete old posts, even if they are no longer useful, like the series on DTM. So, instead, here you have a table, which I hope will be much more digestible.

If you have not read those posts or do not remember them (I will not blame you), the problem to solve is the situation where you have Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) offers and Adobe Target (AT) on the same web page. We want to make sure that one does not interfere with the other. There are various approaches, which I summarize in the tables below. I have added some more cases that I did not consider in my previous posts.

Some clarifications:

  • Private section refers to the section of the website only for logged-in visitors.
  • Public section is the part of the website visible to everybody.
  • AT Premium applies to all cases, except in option A, where it only applies to the public section.
Option AJO Offers AT XT AT A/B
A Private section Public section Public section
B Private section Public section Everywhere
C Known visitors Anonymous Everybody
D Arbitration Arbitration Everywhere or Arbitration

A different view of the same information:

Option Public section Private section
A Everybody: AT XT + AT A/B Known visitors: AJO Offers
B Everybody: AT XT + AT A/B Known visitors: AJO Offers + AT A/B
C Known visitors: AJO Offers + AT A/B
Anonymous visitors: AT XT + AT A/B
Known visitors: AJO Offers + AT A/B
D Arbitration Arbitration

I hope this is now clearer. I know it is not easy to envision all options. Let me know if you have seen another configuration that has worked without major issues.
